FAQ

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE A LESSON?

Our general cancellation policy is that students need to give at least 24 hours’ notice if they want payment for the missed lesson refunded in the event that it can’t be rescheduled.  With less than 24 hours’ notice, payment will not be refunded and reschedules will only be offered at the teacher’s discretion.  Some of our teachers’ policies may differ from this one.  When you are assigned to one of them, further details will be provided to you.

HOW DO I PAY FOR LESSONS?

Payment is handled directly between students and our accounts team.  Students will pay for their trial lesson upfront, and later, after a successful trial, all remaining lessons for the month by bank transfer.  Payment for each month of lessons is due in advance by the first scheduled lesson of the month.

DO I NEED MY OWN PIANO FOR LESSONS?

Yes. Students must have an instrument to practice on during the time between lessons so they will progress.  We understand that some students who do not already own a piano may be unsure about how to choose a good instrument.  We would be happy to speak to anyone with this concern to discuss the options available.  We can make either acoustic or digital recommendations based on your budget and practice needs.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY FIRST LESSON?

Just a notebook!  Teachers need something in which they can write down students’ weekly assignments.  All other materials will either be provided by the teacher or assigned by the teacher for you to purchase.  Please remember to have all books and supplies ready at each lesson.

CAN I OBSERVE MY CHILD'S LESSON?

Of course.  We recommend that parents of young students stay involved in their children’s lessons and practicing until the students can confidently pace themselves.

DO YOU HOLD STUDIO RECITALS?

Yes, we host one studio recital each year.  The recital is not required but strongly recommended.  Students looking for extra performance opportunities are welcome to ask their teachers for suggestions.

CAN YOU PREPARE STUDENTS FOR ABRSM GRADE EXAMS?

Yes, most of our teachers are qualified to help with ABRSM exams.  Just let us know if that is a goal of yours and we’ll make sure to match you with a teacher who is familiar with the exam structure.

DO YOU HAVE A BACKGROUND CHECK?

Yes, our teachers all have Enhanced DBS clearances.  We’re happy to provide a copy of your teacher’s certificate if you request it.
